Employment OpportunitiesASI is an environmental microbiology laboratory and consulting firm located in Williston, VT. We provide microbiological testing, research and consulting services related to drinking water, wastewater/biosolids, industrial water, indoor air and food. Using traditional and molecular techniques, ASI detects, identifies and/or enumerates algae, bacteria, fungi, protozoa, viruses, etc. in a variety of matrices. Additional services at ASI include optimization and validation of commercial products (drinking water treatment units, antimicrobial compounds, and other microbiologically oriented products), Legionella risk assessment and management plans, and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Dr. Colin Fricker, ASI Technical Director, supervises laboratory operations and directs special projects (research and consulting) involving watershed assessment, distribution system investigations, challenge studies and Legionellosis Risk Assessment. Dr. Fricker is Principal Investigator for ASI’s grant from the American Water Works Association Research Foundation, entitled Significance of Current Methods and Monitoring Strategies for E. coli and Total Coliform Measurements (AWWARF #4024). ASI is affiliated with Dr. Aaron Margolin (Chair, Microbiology Dept., University of New Hampshire, Durham, NH and Senior Scientist, ASI), with whom we collaborate on analysis water, wastewater and biosolids samples, product validation projects, and research, with emphasis on viral pathogens. ASI is located near Burlington, VT, between Lake Champlain to the west and Vermont’s Green Mountains to the east. Typically rated as one of America’s “most livable cities,” the Burlington area offers excellent schools, culture, entertainment and outdoor recreation opportunities.
